NCT ID NCT05514028
First seen Apr 06, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study is testing whether RNA found in saliva can help doctors tell the difference between benign ovarian cysts, borderline tumors, and ovarian cancer. Researchers are collecting saliva samples from 746 women before and after surgery to see if a simple, non-invasive test could speed up diagnosis and improve care. The goal is to make the diagnostic process faster and less invasive for patients.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple saliva test that speeds up ovarian cancer diagnosis and improves patient care.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The test may not prove accurate enough for routine use, and results are still early.
Conditions
