New brain stimulation method could help depressed spinal cord injury patients

NCT ID NCT05553353

First seen Jan 15, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests a new method to dose repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for treating depression in people with spinal cord injury (SCI). Standard rTMS dosing requires thumb movement, which many with SCI cannot do. The study will enroll 24 adults with SCI and major depression to see if this new dosing approach can safely reduce depressive symptoms and improve quality of life.
