First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This early-stage trial tested an experimental mRNA vaccine designed to protect against two respiratory viruses: RSV and hMPV. About 558 healthy adults aged 18 to 49 and 60 years or older received one injection of the vaccine at different doses. The main goals were to check safety and measure the immune response. The study is now complete.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
RSV/hMPV mRNA vaccine
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a single vaccine that protects against two common respiratory viruses (RSV and hMPV) in older adults.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 1 trial focused on safety and immune response, not yet on preventing illness. The vaccine may not produce strong enough immunity or could cause side effects. Results may not apply to the general population.
