Robot arm meets virtual reality to train the Parkinson's brain
NCT ID NCT06920511
First seen Sep 11, 2026 · Last updated Sep 11, 2026
Summary
Researchers are testing a rehabilitation platform called PRoBio that pairs a robotic arm with virtual reality and wearable sensors. The study enrolls 10 adults with mild Parkinson's disease and mild cognitive impairment. Participants take part in a four-week program with three weekly sessions of virtual cognitive training. The main goal is to see how usable and acceptable the system is for patients and therapists, and whether it can track body and stress signals during training.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- A rehabilitation platform that combines a robotic arm with virtual reality and wearable sensors for cognitive training
- What this could lead to
- If it works well, this platform could offer a new way to deliver cognitive rehabilitation for people with Parkinson's disease and mild cognitive impairment.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small pilot study with 10 participants, so it can only show whether the system is usable and acceptable, not whether it improves thinking or memory. The results may not apply to a wider group.
