First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tested if the drug rituximab can help people with polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) stop taking steroids earlier. PMR causes pain and stiffness, and steroids are the main treatment but have side effects. The trial included 114 newly diagnosed patients and compared rituximab to a placebo, measuring how many could achieve remission without steroids after 52 weeks.
