Ankle surgery success: most athletes get back in the game
NCT ID NCT04726566
First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study followed 204 people who had surgery for chronic ankle instability to see how many returned to their sport at the same level as before their injury. Researchers compared two surgical techniques: repair by suture and reconstruction using a tendon graft. The main goal was to measure the rate of return to sport 10 months after surgery and identify factors that might prevent a full comeback.
