Eyes may reveal hidden inflammation in endometriosis

NCT ID NCT07232485

First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated Jun 20, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study explores whether a simple, noninvasive eye scan can detect signs of inflammation in women with endometriosis. Researchers will compare retinal images from 100 women with and without the condition. If eye scans prove useful, they could offer a new way to monitor the disease without invasive procedures.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a simple, noninvasive eye scan to help detect or monitor endometriosis-related inflammation.

What could go wrong

This is an early observational study with only 100 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It's exploring a link, not testing a treatment.
