Which rescue method works best for kids? new study puts two approaches to the test.

NCT ID NCT05474170

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looked at two different sequences used to resuscitate children in cardiac arrest: starting with chest compressions versus starting with rescue breaths. Researchers used a manikin to simulate a 9-month-old in cardiac arrest and measured how much air reached the lungs in the first minute. 28 healthcare workers took part. The goal was to help fill a knowledge gap since it's hard to test these methods in real children.
