Brain scan breakthrough may predict epilepsy surgery outcomes in kids
NCT ID NCT04451278
First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tests whether a special type of MRI, called resting-state fMRI, can predict how well children with drug-resistant epilepsy will do after brain surgery. Researchers will scan 200 children aged 6-18 before surgery and analyze brain network patterns using graph theory. The goal is to see if these scans can forecast seizure freedom one year after surgery, potentially helping doctors make better treatment decisions.
