Summary

This study tests whether a 12-week resistance exercise program, done three times a week, can improve physical fitness, community involvement, and sleep quality in older adults living in the community who have metabolic dynapenia—a condition of muscle weakness linked to metabolic issues. Half of the participants will follow the exercise program, while the other half continues their usual activities. The goal is to see if this type of exercise can offer a practical way to enhance overall well-being in aging populations.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
resistance exercise program
What this could lead to
If effective, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to boost physical fitness, social engagement, and sleep quality in older adults with metabolic weakness.
What could go wrong
The trial is small and early, so results may not apply broadly. Adherence to exercise and individual differences could affect outcomes.
