First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looked at whether people taking GLP-1 medications (like Ozempic or Wegovy) still have food or liquid in their stomach after fasting before surgery. Researchers used a quick ultrasound to check 94 patients. The goal was to see if these drugs increase the risk of having leftover stomach contents, which could be dangerous during surgery.
