Summary
This study tested a new way to help people with blood cancers (like leukemia or lymphoma) get into hospice care earlier. Normally, hospice doesn't cover blood transfusions, so patients delay hospice to keep getting them. The study paid for transfusions while patients were on hospice. It included 18 adults who needed regular transfusions and had stopped cancer treatment. The goal was to see if this approach would encourage earlier hospice enrollment and improve end-of-life care.
