Mail-in spit tests could revolutionize infection tracking for cystic fibrosis patients

NCT ID NCT06950892

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looks at whether people with cystic fibrosis can collect sputum (mucus coughed up from the lungs) at home and mail it in to detect lung infections as accurately as samples taken in a clinic. The goal is to make infection monitoring easier, especially with the rise of telehealth. About 150 adults will provide both home and clinic samples for comparison.
