Blood pressure cuff trick may boost heart health in spinal injury
NCT ID NCT07488793
First seen Apr 03, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests whether a simple, at-home treatment using a blood pressure cuff can improve heart health in people with spinal cord injury (SCI). The treatment, called remote ischemic conditioning (RIC), involves briefly inflating the cuff to restrict blood flow, then releasing it. Researchers will compare different cuff types and doses in 24 adults with SCI over 6 weeks to see if it improves blood vessel function and reduces inflammation.
