Smartphone tests may spot seniors at risk for Post-Surgery confusion

NCT ID NCT05566275

First seen Nov 12, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This pilot study tested whether remote smartphone tests of thinking, memory, and motor skills can identify older adults who might develop confusion (delirium) after spine surgery. 34 participants completed the tests before surgery. The goal was to see if this approach could help flag patients who may need extra support, but the study was small and only looked at feasibility, not a treatment.
