Simple blood draws from home could predict dementia years before symptoms
NCT ID NCT04516499
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study collects blood samples every 3 months for 3 years from people who carry gene mutations linked to frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a brain disease that affects personality and language. The goal is to see if a protein called neurofilament light chain (NfL) changes over time and can help predict when symptoms might start. Participants do the blood draws at home, making it easier to join. The study does not test any treatment—it only observes and measures.
