Simple blood draw from home could spot early signs of inherited dementia

NCT ID NCT04516499

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study follows 342 people from families with genetic mutations linked to frontotemporal dementia (FTD), along with a control group. Participants provide blood samples remotely every 3 months for 3 years to measure a protein called neurofilament light chain (NfL), which may signal nerve damage. The goal is to learn how NfL levels change over time in people at risk, not to test a treatment.
