Summary
This study looked at whether using a fast-acting opioid called remifentanil during general anesthesia for emergency C-sections is safe for premature babies. It compared two groups of mothers and their preterm infants: one group received remifentanil, the other did not. The main goal was to see if the babies had healthy scores on a standard breathing and activity test (Apgar) five minutes after birth.
