First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looked at whether adding Reiki (light touch energy therapy) and manual therapy (gentle massage) to usual care helps people after their first open-heart surgery. 272 adults were randomly assigned to receive either 20 minutes of these therapies for three days after surgery, or 20 minutes of uninterrupted rest. Researchers measured depression, anxiety, pain, sleep, heart rhythm problems, and hospital stay length.
