Simple lab report change could curb unneeded antibiotics for critically ill
NCT ID NCT05989269
Summary
This study tested if changing how lab results are reported to doctors could reduce unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions for patients on breathing machines in the ICU. Researchers compared a new reporting method to the standard one across six intensive care units. The goal was to see if the new method safely led to fewer antibiotics being given when they weren't truly needed for pneumonia.
