Summary
This study tested ways to safely reduce unnecessary antibiotics in hospitalized patients with possible pneumonia who had normal breathing and oxygen levels. Over 600 patients were randomly assigned to usual care, an electronic alert, or pharmacist outreach. The goal was to shorten antibiotic use without harming patients, focusing on safety and better antibiotic stewardship.
