Genetic test helps veterans overcome statin fears and cut heart risk

Summary
This study tests whether sharing genetic test results with veterans can help them feel more confident about taking statins to lower cholesterol and prevent heart disease. About 410 veterans aged 40–75 with diabetes or heart disease who are not currently on statins will receive their personal genetic information about statin benefits and risks. The goal is to improve statin use and lower LDL cholesterol over 15 months.
