New combo therapy aims to boost rectal cancer outcomes

NCT ID NCT07113275

First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding immunotherapy to standard treatment (radiation and chemotherapy before surgery) can improve outcomes for people with locally advanced rectal cancer. It also compares a shorter course of radiation to a longer one. About 444 adults aged 18-75 with a specific type of rectal cancer will participate. The goal is to see if the new approach helps prevent cancer from returning or spreading.
