New study tests dexketoprofen to stop severe pain after nerve block wears off
NCT ID NCT07642674
First seen Jun 22, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether giving the anti-inflammatory drug dexketoprofen through a vein can prevent or lessen the severe 'rebound pain' that often happens when a shoulder nerve block wears off. About 66 adults having arthroscopic shoulder surgery will receive either standard pain treatment or standard treatment plus dexketoprofen. Researchers will track pain scores and how much extra pain medicine patients need.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
dexketoprofen (a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, NSAID)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could give doctors a simple way to prevent the severe pain that often returns after a nerve block wears off.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (66 people) testing a known drug for a new purpose. The drug may not reduce rebound pain significantly, and NSAIDs carry risks like stomach or kidney problems.
Conditions
The condition(s) this trial relates to.
As listed by the trial registrant
