Summary
This study tested a rapid test (BioFire FA Pneumonia Panel) to quickly find the germ causing pneumonia in ICU patients on breathing machines. 40 adults were randomly assigned to get the rapid test or usual care. The goal was to see if the test helps doctors choose the right antibiotic faster and safely. The study was small and focused on whether this approach is feasible, not on proving it cures pneumonia.
