Gene test could personalize breast cancer prevention drug
NCT ID NCT06062810
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study examines how genetic variations (SNPs) in certain genes influence how well the drug raloxifene works and its side effects in 600 patients with lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS), a high-risk breast condition. Participants take raloxifene daily, and researchers sequence their DNA to find links between genes and treatment outcomes. The goal is to make raloxifene therapy more personalized and safer.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Raloxifene
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could help doctors predict which patients will benefit most from raloxifene and who might experience side effects, leading to more personalized treatment.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-stage genetic analysis, not a test of a new drug. The findings may not change current practice or may not apply to all patients.
