Veterans with PTSD try racecar simulator to boost emotional control

NCT ID NCT06403514

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This completed study tested a unique approach for veterans with PTSD: combining a racecar simulator with psychological skills training like self-talk, goal-setting, and biofeedback. The goal was to help veterans better regulate their emotions and improve quality of life. Only one veteran participated, so the results are very preliminary and not generalizable.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Psychological skills training (self-talk, imagery, goal-setting, biofeedback) combined with racecar simulation

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a novel, engaging way to help veterans with PTSD improve emotional control and quality of life.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, single-case study with only one participant, so results may not apply to others. The intervention is still experimental and needs much larger trials to confirm any benefit.
