Summary
This early-stage study tested the safety and side effects of a new oral treatment called R-5280 in teenagers recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Nine participants took the treatment or a placebo daily for 12 weeks. Researchers monitored for any adverse reactions and also checked if the treatment affected blood sugar levels or the types of bacteria in the gut.
