New heart procedure aims to stop persistent AFib in its tracks

NCT ID NCT05986526

First seen Apr 18, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests if adding extra ablation to the standard procedure helps people with persistent atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat) stay in normal rhythm longer. About 206 adults will get either standard ablation or standard plus additional ablation, using a newer, safer energy type. The goal is to see which approach works better over one year.
