Heart ablation study aims to stop stubborn AFib
NCT ID NCT07405359
First seen Feb 15, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study compares two heart ablation methods for people with persistent atrial fibrillation (AFib), a type of irregular heartbeat that lasts for weeks. One group gets standard treatment (isolating the pulmonary veins), while the other gets extra ablation on the back wall of the heart and a major vein. The goal is to see if the extra ablation prevents AFib from coming back for at least a year. About 220 adults with persistent AFib will take part.
