First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tests a new procedure called pulsed-field ablation (PFA) to treat persistent atrial fibrillation (AFib), a common heart rhythm problem. About 60 adults with AFib that lasts more than 7 days will receive PFA to isolate the pulmonary veins. Their heart rhythm will be monitored continuously for 12 months using a small implantable device to see if the procedure prevents AFib from coming back.
