Summary

This study looks at whether people who have a blood clot in the lungs (pulmonary embolism) are more likely to have a stroke if they also have a small hole in their heart (called a PFO). About 1 in 4 people have this hole, which can let a clot travel to the brain. Researchers will follow 256 adults for 90 days, using brain MRIs and ultrasound tests to compare stroke outcomes between those with and without the heart hole.
