First seen Nov 05, 2025 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tests whether a single intravenous dose of allopregnanolone, compared to a placebo, can help people with PTSD better process and reduce the power of traumatic memories. The trial involves 96 adults with chronic PTSD and uses skin conductance and startle responses to measure changes in fear reactions. The goal is to see if the drug can improve how the brain 'unlearns' fear or blocks the re-storage of traumatic memories.
