New scan may catch hidden prostate cancers missed by MRI
NCT ID NCT07386496
First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding a special PET scan (18F-PSMA) to an MRI can better detect serious prostate cancer in men whose MRI results are not clear. About 250 men will be randomly assigned to get either an MRI-guided biopsy or a combined MRI+PET-guided biopsy. The goal is to see if the combined approach finds more aggressive cancers and changes treatment decisions.
