New scan could spot hidden prostate cancers missed by MRI
NCT ID NCT07386496
First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study looks at whether adding a special PET scan (18F-PSMA) to standard MRI can better find aggressive prostate cancers in men whose MRI results are unclear. About 250 men with suspicious but not definitive MRI findings will be randomly assigned to get either MRI-guided biopsies alone or MRI plus PET-guided biopsies. The goal is to see if the combined approach detects more serious cancers and changes treatment plans, such as how much of the prostate to remove or treat.
