Brain boost: zapping a nerve may make psilocybin insights last longer
NCT ID NCT05866471
First seen Jan 24, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study looks at whether giving a mild electrical pulse to a nerve in the ear (called taVNS) after taking psilocybin can help people remember the deep thoughts and feelings they had during the experience. The idea is that the nerve zap might boost brain flexibility and memory formation. Researchers will compare this to a fake zap or no zap in 108 healthy adults who report some emotional stress.
