Could a blood injection beat steroids for back pain?

NCT ID NCT07036445

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tests if platelet-rich plasma (PRP), made from a patient's own blood, works as well as steroid injections for long-term relief of back and leg pain caused by a herniated disc. 200 adults with persistent pain will receive either treatment and be followed for 2 years. The goal is to see if PRP is a safer, effective alternative to steroids.
