Could a simple breath test make anesthesia safer for kids?
NCT ID NCT03901599
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looked at a new method to set breathing machines for children during anesthesia. Instead of using a standard breath size, they measured the air that actually reaches the lungs (alveolar ventilation) using a special device. The goal was to find a steady target that keeps carbon dioxide levels normal. 60 children under 12 years old took part. The results may help create safer, more personalized breathing support for kids.
