Probiotics may shield cancer patients from debilitating treatment side effect
NCT ID NCT06508034
Summary
This study tests whether taking an over-the-counter probiotic supplement can prevent a serious side effect of cancer immunotherapy. Up to 45% of patients receiving immunotherapy develop severe colon inflammation and diarrhea, which can delay treatment and require hospitalization. Researchers want to see if daily probiotics taken before and during immunotherapy can reduce this risk in patients with solid tumors.
