Peer coaches boost weight loss in primary care study

NCT ID NCT02959021

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looked at whether having a peer coach—someone like you who has lost weight—can help people with obesity lose more weight than trying on their own. 375 adults with a BMI between 30 and 50 took part. The program used phone calls and group sessions to support healthy eating and activity. The goal was to see if this approach works better than a self-directed program.
