First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study tests a program called GRIT, where community health workers coach teens (ages 11-14) and their families on self-regulation skills over six video sessions. The goal is to prevent early, regular use of alcohol and cannabis in youth who have experienced four or more adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). About 210 teens will be randomly assigned to GRIT or a digital citizenship class, and researchers will track their substance use and emotional regulation for a year.
