New study aims to stop devastating second ACL tears in young athletes
NCT ID NCT03190889
First seen Mar 13, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study looked at 150 female athletes aged 14-24 who had already torn their ACL once. The goal was to find movement patterns that raise the risk of a second tear and test if special rehab exercises can lower that risk. Nearly one-third of athletes who return to sport after an ACL tear suffer another injury, so this research aims to prevent that and protect their long-term health.
