New program aims to stop drug addiction before it starts in At-Risk young parents

Summary
This study tested a new program called PRE-FAIR to prevent opioid and methamphetamine addiction in young parents (ages 16-30) already involved with Oregon's child welfare system. 240 parents at risk for drug misuse were randomly assigned to either the PRE-FAIR program or standard services. The program combined mental health support, parenting help, and regular monitoring to reduce drug use and improve family outcomes.
