Summary

This study tested a program called PRE-FAIR to prevent opioid and methamphetamine addiction in young parents (ages 16-30) already involved with Oregon's child welfare system. 241 parents at risk for substance misuse were randomly assigned to either the PRE-FAIR program or standard services. The program combined mental health support, parenting help, and monitoring to reduce the chance of developing a full addiction.
