New approach to stop low blood sugar before it starts

NCT ID NCT04876079

First seen Mar 06, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looked at whether people with type 1 diabetes can prevent mild-to-moderate low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) by taking oral glucose when their blood sugar is still slightly above the usual danger threshold. The goal was to see if this proactive approach works better than waiting for blood sugar to drop further. 30 adults with type 1 diabetes took part, and researchers measured how much time their blood sugar stayed in a safe range.
