First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving older adults (60+) a common painkiller (IV acetaminophen) every 6 hours during heart surgery recovery could prevent delirium, a state of sudden confusion. The trial involved 900 participants across multiple hospitals. Researchers compared those who received the drug to those who did not, checking daily for signs of delirium until discharge.
