ACL tear? new drug may stop arthritis before it starts

NCT ID NCT03552705

First seen Mar 06, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests if a drug called tranexamic acid (TXA), which reduces bleeding, can prevent arthritis after an ACL tear. About 50 people aged 18-30 with a recent ACL injury will receive TXA right after injury and during surgery. Researchers will check joint inflammation, cartilage health, and knee function for 6 months to see if TXA helps protect the joint.
