Pasteurized vs. raw milk: which is better for tiny preemies?

NCT ID NCT07411872

First seen Mar 01, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looked at 900 very low birth weight preterm babies to see if pasteurizing mother's milk (done when the mother has a common virus) changes their health outcomes. Researchers compared serious complications like infections and lung disease between babies fed raw or pasteurized milk, also considering the baby's sex. The goal was to understand the risks and benefits of pasteurization for these fragile infants.
