New catheter takes on gold standard in heart artery procedures

Summary
This study tests if a new, easier-to-use pressure microcatheter works as well as the standard pressure wire for guiding treatment of narrowed heart arteries. About 2500 adults with stable coronary artery disease or recent non-emergency heart attack will be randomly assigned to one of the two tools during their artery-opening procedure. Researchers will track major heart events like death, heart attack, or repeat procedures over one year to see if the new device is non-inferior.
