New catheter tool could improve heart stent decisions

NCT ID NCT05437900

First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests if a new pressure microcatheter is as good as the standard pressure wire for deciding when and how to place stents in heart arteries. About 2500 adults with stable heart disease or recent non-emergency heart attack will be randomly assigned to one device or the other. The main goal is to see if the microcatheter leads to similar rates of major heart problems like death, heart attack, or repeat procedures over one year.
